Rep. Rosenthal backs legislation that helps law enforcement with PTSD

Our law enforcement keeps our communities safe and they must be provided with proper training and the resources required to address PTSD. The Illinois Police Training Act protects our law enforcement and gives them the training required to handle intense situations that affect their mental health. SB1543 provides that the PTSD Mental Health Coordinator shall implement programs aimed at mental health and education for law enforcement officers. The PTSD Mental Health Coordinator shall report to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board for advice on direction and training needs for law enforcement agencies statewide. This bill has been sent to the governor.
