Blackburn College Receives $2.7 Million Grant

Springfield, IL…The Illinois Board of Higher Education is awarding forty-five colleges across Illinois with $400 million in grant funds. State Representative Wayne Rosenthal (R-Morrisonville) is thrilled to hear Blackburn College in the 108th District will receive $2.7 million from the Independent Colleges Capital Investment Grant Program.

“I’m very happy to hear that Blackburn College is receiving a percentage of grant money to help improve campus infrastructure and enhance the learning experience for students,” said Rep. Rosenthal. “This college has a rich history, and this grant will absolutely have a positive impact not just for the college and students, but for the town of Carlinville.”

Officials from The Illinois Board of Higher Education said the primary goal of these grants is to help fund the costs of construction, repairs, and renovations to campuses. They believe having adequate facilities will benefit college students with their learning experiences.

Blackburn College was founded in 1837 and continues to be fully vested in every aspect of student’s college experience. The mission of Backburn college is to offer affordable education that prepares graduates for careers and lifelong learning.
