The Governor signs largest state budget in history

The Governor is set to sign Democrats’ $53.1 billion budget this morning, the largest spending plan in Illinois history. A reminder that this plan was passed in the middle of the night and with no Republican support. The Governor will laud this budget as “balanced” but the truth is that it is balanced on the backs of hardworking Illinoisans through taxes and gimmicks. In addition to $1 billion in tax increases, the budget includes pay raises for politicians and another billion dollars in spending on non-citizens. This spending plan does not reflect the priorities of the people we represent.
