Standing Up for Rural Families and Preserving Our Way of Life

Protecting Family Farms | Reducing Energy Costs | Promoting Agriculture Education

As a State Representative for the 108th District, my priority is to preserve our way of life and to stand up for rural families. I believe that rural families need to be protected by legislation that often impacts their quality of life. Folks in rural areas tend to live a simple life with small-town values. I know the importance of keeping family farms in the family, promoting agriculture education to the next generation, and reliable energy that’s affordable.

A longtime family farmer, Wayne farms with his three sons and has utilized no-till practices since 1990. They have replanted trees on all farmland prone to flooding, establishing three wetlands, and planted all marginal areas to native grasses and pollinator plants. A fierce advocate for reforming the Death Tax in Illinois, Wayne works to keep family farms in families.

It’s time to finally help family farmers pass their farmland on to the next generation, protecting our family farms from being sold off to large corporate or foreign interests.

Please sign the petition to protect family farms in Illinois and to preserve family traditions.

As a family farmer, Wayne understands the value of promoting agriculture education programs like 4-H and FFA, and developing the next generation of farmers that will feed our nation and keep farming communities strong. Ensuring education in rural communities reflects our values is at top of mind for Wayne.

House Bill 3814: Allows FFA and 4-H students to participate in career development events without being penalized for missing school days and each event will be considered school work.

A former Director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Wayne supports an all-of-the-above energy policy with a strong focus on high-energy sources like coal, nuclear, and natural gas, as well as supporting renewable energy and ethanol. Extreme political posturing is driving out high-capacity power plants, hiking energy costs, and risking reliability.
