Rep. Rosenthal Honors Capitol Police Officer Sgt. Gerald “Jerry” Schneider

Rep. Wayne Rosenthal honors Sgt. Gerald S. "Jerry" Schneider in the Illinois House of Representatives on February 27, 2025.

On Thursday, State Rep. Wayne Rosenthal passed House Resolution 155 to honor the life and service of Sergeant Gerald S. “Jerry” Schneider who passed away on January 5, 2025.

Sgt. Schneider was a dedicated public servant who served and protected his community for the Illinois Secretary of State Police Capitol Division since 2015. During his tenure, Sgt. Schneider served as an invaluable member of the Command Staff at the Capitol Police Division and received a department unit citation and commendation.

Sgt. Schneider previously served as an officer for the Sherman, Illinois Police Department from 2008 to 2014 and served as an officer for the Tri-City Police Department from December 1999 through January 2008.

Sgt. Schneider was a cherished by his family and friends for his unwavering dedication, his sense of humor, and his love for his family and community. (HR 155 may be found at this link.)
