Rep. Rosenthal is happy to see HB5304 pass the Illinois House of Representatives unanimously, 107-0. This bill creates the Highway Work Zone Safety Act which improves public safety in a work zone and is supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) along with the Illinois State Police (ISP). Not only will this bill help keep workers safe, but also motorists.
Under this bill, the Illinois State Police and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, will be responsible to set up and operate automated traffic control systems in highway construction and maintenance speed zones. With further oversite, public safety will be improved in all work zones.
